History
PEARLZ has been inaugurated on the faculty of Engineering, Zagazig University in early 1987. On its beginning, a generous gift of equipment from "Institut fuer Plasmapysik" (IPP) of the Max Planck Institute in Garching - Germany, has permitted an energetic start of this Lab.
This was followed in 1993 by another gift of equipment from the Physics department (AG Prof. Doebele) Essen University organized by the international Burro of the Research Center, KFA in Juelich - Germany. This enabled us to built many plasma experiments as: Glow discharges, Microwave discharges, RF discharges, Vacuum arc discharges, atmospheric jet and DBD as well as a Nitrogen laser and many other experiments.
A large progress in Lab infrastructure has been achieved in 2012 by acquiring a capacity building project from STDF, Egyptian Ministry of Scientific Research who gives the Lab the possibility to purchase modern equipment and diagnostic tools.
On 2014, Lab equipment has been completed through an RDI Project of the Egyptian Ministry of Scientific Research financed by the European Community (EU).
The Lab has been always and remains supported, in all its activities, by the Faculty of Engineering, Zagazig University, in Zagazig - Egypt.
